Markham Read Zerner LLC represents individuals and entities in civil and criminal actions in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies, and in school and college disciplinary proceedings throughout the United States. The firm, building on its 30-year private practice and the federal prosecutorial experience of its senior attorney, brings considerable knowledge and dedication to its representation of individuals and entities in investigations, negotiations, and litigation.
Markham Read Zerner is small by design. We work with clients to analyze the legal and factual issues confronting them and build on that understanding to develop a representation plan to meet the clients’ specific needs and goals. We either undertake representations at the outset of a dispute, substitute in as trial counsel when the case calls for it or prosecute appeals and other post-trial relief. John J.E. Markham, II
Attorney at Law
John Markham has been practicing law since 1973. He first practiced commercial law as an associate at the Wall Street law firm of Shearman & Sterling in New York and at Lillick, McHose & Charles (now Nixon Peabody) in San Francisco. He later served as a federal prosecutor for six years in San Diego, San Francisco, and Boston, where he was appointed Chief of the Major Frauds Section.

She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, where she was Executive Editor of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly.
